Day 2

Unit 5: Day 2

Daily Objective: Students will write the linear equations of a line using data from the line of best fit, or 2 given points.

Definition: An algebraic equation, such as y = 2x + 7 or 3x + 2y - z = 4, in which the highest degree term in the variable or variables is of the first degree. The graph of such an equation is a straight line if there are two variables.

Pictures: This pictures shows a good example of what the equation of a line is and the key componets that go along with it.

3 question guiz:

#1. Find the slope and y-intercept of this equation, y = -3x + 7

#2. Write an equation for a line passing through (1,-9) and (-3,3)

#3. Find the equation of a line passing through (2,0) and (4,8)

Answers to the quiz:

#1.
